A time full of different but exciting events at school, for example our hour of coding last week! (Head to hourofcode.com for more fun at home.) We also made snow flakes with our 2nd grade buddies as we helped them learn about symmertry. Poke your head in this week and check out our snowy classroom! Upcoming Events and Reminders:
In reading this week students will be putting together their book commercial on imovie or educreations. Almost all students have completed scripts and are ready for this step. I look forward to seeing their creative ideas. Writing: During writing time students continue to work on revising, editing and publishing their fiction stories. I expect each student to publish one fiction story before winter break. Snow Globe Project: This week we will begin our winter snow globe project. This is a writing prompt about being trapped in a snow globe. Students write to this prompt and will make a snow globe to take home before the winter break. Students particularly focus on using transition words in this writing project. Number Corner: This months number corner focuses on pentominoes. This is a fun geometric concept to discuss with your student. Science: This week in science we will be learning about tectonic plates. Social Studies: In social studies we will continue our study of state capitals and U.S. geography. Each student is part of an expert group in which they will become an expert on one aspect of U.S. geography. |
